Creating the new Ibis Styles in Hounslow involved a full fit-out in Art Deco style. Both in the public areas and the bedrooms, striking results were achieved from a selection of materials, cleverly combined.
From an early stage, we offered our expertise in materials sourcing, working in collaboration with the designers to develop a design to meet both brief and budget.
The 125 bedrooms feature Tirano Pearwood laminated case goods. There are many special touches which enhance the art deco look, including specialist CNC stitching in a bespoke ‘sunrise’ design on the headboards, burnished brass-effect metal detailing on the bedsides and unique art deco designs on the back panel of the open wardrobes.
The mirrors, in a distinctive 1920s shape, are made from silver, peach and bronze tinted mirror sections.
In the public areas full of statement pieces there is no mistaking the art deco theme. Curtis supplied the classy curved walnut veneer credenza in reception and the matching bar unit, both with brass trim and handy hidden storage. The impactful reception table in a combination of beautiful walnut veneer with solid brass edging on a base of intricate metal fretwork backlit through frosted Perspex, gives a real feel of Hollywood glamour.
This hotel has no ‘bygone era’ feel though. It’s a vibrant and welcoming family-friendly hotel making a statement that feels bang up to date: Hotels don’t have to be boring. We at Curtis couldn’t agree more.
