From Historic Pub to Boutique Stay
17 June 2025

London's rich history often sees its iconic buildings repurposed, breathing new life into old structures. One such magnificent transformation is the Hat & Feathers pub, which has shed its former skin to emerge as the latest Hotel Indigo from IHG in London's Clerkenwell. This isn't just a hotel; it's a carefully crafted experience that blends historic charm with contemporary luxury.
Omniport, the masterminds behind this project, meticulously executed the transformation of this historic building. The result is a stunning new hotel boasting 144 beautifully appointed bedrooms with furniture by Curtis.
A Nod to Local Craftsmanship
True to Hotel Indigo's signature style, the design of the rooms at the Indigo Clerkenwell draws deep inspiration from its vibrant local surroundings. Each room category tells a story, reflecting the area's heritage:
Architects: These rooms pay homage to the visionaries who shaped London's landscape. A notable and unique feature is the custom desks with built-in cutting boards, a subtle nod to the precision and craft of an architect.
Clockmakers: Celebrating the intricate world of horology, these rooms feature furnishings that evoke the precision and artistry of clockmaking.
Goldsmiths: Reflecting the area's history of fine craftsmanship, these rooms are designed with an eye for detail and luxury, mirroring the exquisite work of a goldsmith.
Crafting Comfort: The Furniture We Made
To bring these distinct themes to life, we had the privilege of crafting a range of bespoke furniture for the Hotel Indigo Hat & Feathers, ensuring both style and functionality in every room. Our contributions included: Wardrobes, Bedside tables, Desks, TCMF (Tea & Coffee Making Facilities units) Mirrors and Luggage benches.
The transformation of the Hat & Feathers into a Hotel Indigo is a testament to thoughtful design and meticulous execution, offering guests a unique and memorable stay deeply rooted in the local character.
