State of art energy reduction systems within factory

The Forest Stewardship Council are an internationally acclaimed body that ensures that the world’s forests and the use of wood and wood based products are harvested in a sustained and manageable way. Curtis are proud to have attained Standard for Chain of Custody Certification from FSC.
UK material sourcing
The vast majority of the raw materials we purchase are made here in the UK. In sourcing from the UK we are supporting the local economy and cutting down on “furniture miles” and carbon emissions.
UK manufacture
UK manufactured furniture is the cornerstone of Curtis sustainable approach. A 100 room project made and delivered by Curtis will require under 2,000 miles of vehicle delivery transport. Compare that to 10,000 miles from Eastern Europe and over 40,000 miles for the same quantity of Asian manufactured product.
Curtis heritage
Curtis has a proud history in furniture manufacturing.
Whilst Curtis Furniture has been around since 1997, the original business was set up by John Curtis and Son in 1852.
John William Curtis, a cabinetmaker, established a shop fitting business in Bond Street, Leeds.
The company moved to a larger premises on the corner of Wade Street and Wade Lane, Leeds. Here the shop fitting business was further developed to include architectural woodwork.
In July 1997, the company was re-launched as Curtis Shopfitters Ltd with an initial manpower of just 4 staff. It was renamed Curtis Furniture Ltd in 2004.
In May 2016, Curtis moved to larger premises in South Leeds to increase capacity and meet increasing market demand.
We’ve completed over 70,000 bedrooms, both fit-outs and refurbishments, since 1997. And we’re expanding our Leeds based team as we get busier than ever.
